Some add the state or country at the end of the keyphrases that they are looking for, in the hopes that they will receive better (and more specific) results from the search engines.

Please take full advantage of these web users by editing the texts on your website. After all, those who search for buy lingerie malaysia, are most likely to be Malaysians looking for lingerie in Malaysia!  It only takes a few minutes to add the specific keywords on your homepage, so please do it. Many researchers have shown that when users read online, they have a tendency to scan. Therefore, it makes sense to write headlines with descriptive phrases and keywords which will help your user understand the paragraphs that follow. Search engines too will look at the main page heading to get a gist of what the page is about.

How to write sexy headings?

1.    Use the <h1> tag for the main heading. For example, in this article the <h1> main heading is Search Engine Optimization Tip #3: Use headings. For subsequent headings or sub-headings, you may use <h2>, <h3> until <h6>. Can you sport the <h2> heading for this article?

2.    Don’t hide your headings, the most important part of your webpage as paragraphs, <p>. Stick to <h1>, <h2> and so forth.

3. Analyze the most important portion of your paragraphs and extract the keywords for the headlines.

4. Write for both the search engine and customer. Your headline should entice your customer to read more and at the same time inform the search engines of what your page is all about.

5.    For product catalogue, if you are selling a 3pc set babydoll as an example, be sure to write about that in the heading plus add a few enticing words to grab the user such as stunning, super hot, absolutely gorgeous, etc. Don’t simply write the SKU of the product i.e. SSL2034. Instead, combine the SKU of the product with the title of the product such as SKU2034 - Super Stunning 1Pc Chemise. Some other examples of good headings for product catalogue:

• Elegant halter style long gown
• Unique oriental sleeveless long gown
• Sexy halter style camisole set

6.    For article headings, the headline of the article should grab the user attention. Lists are great, and so are how to headlines. Examples of some effective headlines for articles are:

• 3 Good Reasons Why You Should Buy Lingerie For Your Mate
• How to Be More Sexy
• 3 Tips For Buying Lingerie

7.    For your homepage, the first heading should describe in a few short words what your whole website is about. For example, if you are selling plus size lingerie, you may want to research the keywords that your potential customers are searching for. The following are some ideas that I came up with:

• Buy Hot Plus Size Lingerie (for all the big gals out there!)
• Superbly Stunning Plus Size Lingerie
• Hot Lingeries for Plus Size Gals

8.     Don’t write Welcome to (name of website) for your heading. Its really unnecessary and it doesn’t help the search engine to understand your page. If you think your customer will reach your website by googling the keyword welcome, think again. Guess how many websites are competing for the keyword Welcome? Over 1 billion websites.

Many webowners, (yes even the big companies) have the habit of writing Welcome to (name of website) in their title tags and headings on their homepage. No wonder google returns a huge number of results for that one keyword alone. Do yourself a favor, and replace the welcome to with the keywords for your website (see point number 7 above).

Conclusion

A tagline is a short phrase that identifies the users about your website. All big brands have a tagline attach to their brands. A great tagline will create an indelible impression on the user, and there will be a bigger chance that he will remember it.

However, most big brands use slogans as their taglines. A slogan does not need to describe what the company is all about, however, it should be catchy, unique and memorable to the user. I don’t recommend you to use a slogan for your website as it doesn’t tell your users the critical question: what is this website all about?

Take the following taglines (slogans) for example from 3 different brands:

• Nike: Just Do It
• Avis: We Try Harder
• Burger King: Have It Your Way

These 3 giant companies can build on their brand by using a unique slogan type tagline. It works. However, for your website whether you are selling lingerie, apparel or any other items, using these kind of taglines will only confuse your users, especially if that is his first time visiting.

Another disadvantage of writing a slogan like the ones above is that the search engines will be led astray by it. You want the search engines to know what your website is all about, and where else to describe it than at the tagline?

How to write a good tagline for your website?

• Add the necessary keywords related to your website
• Attract your customers with the use of powerful words
• Make the tagline memorable
• Give special emphasis to the benefits that your customers will receive
• Describe how you solve your customers problems
• Keep it short and simple (preferably 7 words or less)

Examples of some excellent taglines:

• BMW: The Ultimate Driving Machine
• Sheer and Sultry: Sexy Lingerie for the plus size woman
• The Lingerie Lounge: Feel Sexy, Feel Fabulous, Look Sensational

Examples of some bad taglines:

• Because we know you deserve it! (reason: vague tagline - from a lingerie seller)
• Sexy Lingerie, Plus Size Lingerie, Bridal Lingerie, Leather Lingerie, Hosiery, Bras & Panty Sets, Sexy Costumes & More! Free Shipping! Satisfaction Guaranteed! (reason: keyword stuffing - from a lingerie seller)

3 mistakes that people make when writing a tagline

1. Using images instead of text - Search engines can’t read images. You are doing yourself a great disservice by writing your tagline as an image. Use texts for texts. Only your logo, icons and pics should be presented as images on your website. Any other words, paragraphs, phrases or sentences should be presented as texts. This will allow the search engines to read your page together with the keywords that you have included in them.

2. Placing the tagline at the bottom - Taglines should always be placed at the top. The ideal place is top left where normally the logo of the website is. If not, the tagline should be placed below the logo or in close proximity to it.

3. Keyword stuffing - Adding keywords in the tagline is important, but stuffing keywords will only annoy your users. Instead of going overboard to please the search engines, try to use keywords sparingly in your tagline. Keep it succinct and minimize to a maximum 3 keywords for your tagline.

Search Engine Optimization Tip #1: Write Descriptive Title Tags

The title tags are apparent at the top left of every person’s browser, whether it is Firefox, Explorer, Opera or others. A lot of website owners, do not describe what the whole website is all about in the title tags. Don’t make the same mistake like millions of other web owners do which is to just write the name of the website in the title tags and leave it at that.

If you are selling lingerie, and your website address is www.jundast.com (I just created this name as an example), the most common sense thing to do is write the Title tag as your website name Jundast, right? Wrong! How will the search engine know what your website is about by this unique name of yours? Jundast doesn’t tell me anything at all (nor do to the search engines).

If your website address happens to be Jundastlingerie.com, and you write your title tags as Jundast Lingerie, that might help the search engines to understand somewhat. However, it is not necessary to add keywords into your domain name. Having a unique name is perfectly alright.

However, writing the necessary keywords in the title tags will help the search engines to understand what your website is about, and bring targeted traffic to your website. If you are a lingerie seller, primarily offering lingerie to big sized girls, the following are some example titles that would be more suitable:

• Exotic and Unique Plus Size Lingerie
• Sexy and Beautiful Plus Size Lingerie
• Stunning and Sexy Plus Size Lingerie

If you wish to add your website name in the Title tag, you may do so. You can either add at the front or at the end as follows:

• Jundast: Exotic and Unique Plus Size Lingerie
• Sexy Plus Size Lingerie, Beautiful Lingerie Collection | Jundast

How to find the right keywords for titles?

Ask yourself the following 3 questions?

1. What is my website all about?
2. If I am the customer what keywords will I be searching online to find what I am looking for?
3. What is your company’s product strength?

You may be selling over 100 styles of plus size lingerie, however 80 of those styles happens to be corsets. Therefore, your product strength are babydolls, and you may want to write about that in your titles as well. So taking the first example above you should now write: Exotic and Unique Plus Size Lingerie, Sexy Corsets | Jundast.

Writing descriptive titles helps your buyers as well

When a user searches for your website via search engines and sees your website address, and clicks on it the first thing he will see is the title tag. The title tag will tell him in one short sentence what your website is all about. The user then doesn’t have to wonder what does this website has to offer? or what is this website selling? The title tag answers all that. So writing descriptive titles not only helps the search engines understand what your website is all about, but also your customers as well.
