We require a 30% deposit on all new orders

We now require a 30% deposit on all new orders. Unfortunately, we have to set this rule as we have had problems with some of our customers who placed orders on our website but never paid. This cost us to lose a considerable amount of money. The following paragraphs explain how much money it costs us to process your order.
A walk through the process of each order
When a customer places an order on our website, our staff would have to process it by manually keying in the order into our system (8-15 minutes to keypunch: labor cost $2.50) and checking the styles for stock availability. We would then have to inform the customer on out of stock items and ask if he wishes to proceed with his order or substitute those styles.
After receiving confirmation, a picking slip is printed out (cost 20 cents) for use of retrieving ordered styles. We would then have to go through the tedious task of retrieving those styles from our warehouse (labor cost: $7), packing them into a shipping carton and weighing them in. Each cardboard carton costs about $2.50 and if your order is big we may require more than just 1 carton box for shipping. Other packing supplies and shipping tape cost money too. For international shipment, there are other forms that need to be typed out and prepared before shipment including custom forms, commercial invoice and certificate of origin. All these forms cost an additional of $3-$8 to prepare.
For cancelled orders (due to non-payment), we would then have to unpack the order and restock the merchandise (labor cost: $7). Simply put, for unpaid orders, we lose $10-$15 just for processing your order! We can no longer accept this. We strictly require a 30% deposit on all new orders. We will only proceed with your order once we have received the 30% deposit to our paypal account. We will ask for the remaining 70% and shipping charges after your order has packed and weighed in.
If you wish to cancel your order we would charge you with a 7% restocking fee. If we do not receive a 30% deposit we will consider that you are not a serious buyer and we will cancel your order for you. However, if you require additional time for making the deposit please contact us with your reason. We would like to be as flexible as we can but we are firm in this rule as we would like to be of service to all our genuine wholesale buyers. Updates (28th April 2008): We no longer require a deposit. Our paypal checkout system is up and running. Customers can now pay their purchases in full and with no hassle.
